Argentina youngster Nico Paz has praised the togetherness within the Albiceleste squad after making his first World Cup start in their 3-1 victory over Jordan, insisting the positive atmosphere around the camp has played a huge role in helping young players settle on football’s biggest stage.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a memorable evening as Argentina recorded their 50th victory in FIFA World Cup history, with the highly-rated midfielder delivering another composed display after earning the trust of coach Lionel Scaloni.
Tipped by many as one of Argentina’s potential breakout stars before the tournament, Paz admitted the occasion was made easier by the support of his teammates.

Reflecting on the squad’s chemistry, Paz explained that the bond between the players has translated directly onto the pitch. He believes the unity within the dressing room has created the perfect environment for younger members of the squad to play with confidence and express themselves without fear.
“When a group gets along well off the pitch, you can clearly see it on the pitch too,” Paz said. “We all help each other and give each other advice. For us young players, this atmosphere is crucial because it gives us the confidence we need to express ourselves as we know how. All of this inevitably has a positive impact on the team’s performance.”
The former Real Madrid youngster also addressed the growing expectations surrounding him after arriving at the tournament as one of Argentina’s brightest emerging talents. While many have tipped him to become one of the stars of the competition, Paz said he is simply grateful for the overwhelming support he has received from supporters.
“I really appreciate all the support I’m receiving,” he added. “People always welcome me in the best way possible, and for me, it’s something incredible. Feeling this closeness also helps me on the pitch because it allows me to play calmly and show my football. I can only thank everyone for such great support.”

“I learn so much from them every single day,” Paz explained. “Before and after every match, they talk to me, stay close to me and give me a lot of advice. They always tell me to be myself, to play calmly and not to be afraid to show my qualities. It’s an attitude I really appreciate, and it’s helping me a lot to grow.”
