Napoli have confirmed the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as their new head coach on a contract until 2029 following his departure from AC Milan.
Napoli have officially appointed Massimiliano Allegri as their new head coach, with the experienced Italian signing a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2029.
The announcement marks the beginning of a new era as the Partenopei prepare for the 2026/27 season.
The 58-year-old arrives with one of the most impressive managerial résumés in Italian football. Allegri has won six Serie A titles and four domestic doubles during successful spells with Juventus and AC Milan, establishing himself as one of the country’s most decorated coaches.
Allegri returns to management after his second spell at AC Milan came to an abrupt end in May. His tenure lasted just one season before the club’s American owners, RedBird Capital Partners, dismissed him following a disappointing end to the campaign.
AC Milan’s season unravelled during the closing weeks as a run of poor results saw them slip out of the Champions League places. A damaging 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari ultimately condemned the Rossoneri to a fifth-place finish, leaving them without Europe’s top club competition for a second successive year.
His departure formed part of a wider overhaul at San Siro. Alongside Allegri, senior executives Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada also left the club as Milan embarked on a major restructuring following their disappointing campaign.
Despite the disappointing finish, Milan had spent much of the season challenging for the Serie A title before suffering a dramatic collapse. They managed just one victory from their final four league matches, a run that ultimately proved costly.

At Napoli, Allegri takes over from Antonio Conte, who stepped down despite guiding the club to a second-place finish behind Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Napoli will now hope Allegri’s vast experience and winning pedigree can help deliver silverware in the coming seasons.
