Morocco scored three goals in the second half to see off Canada.

Canada saw their World Cup run come to an end after a second-half demolition by Morocco in the round of 16.

Morocco were shocked in the opening exchanges by the intensity of Canada’s play. The Canadians took the game to the Moroccans, forcing Bono into action on multiple occasions.

In the 11th minute, Bono was right on his game to deny Oluwaseyi from close range.

Morocco were run ragged by their opponents in the first half who despite their resilience failed to score. Morocco’s first half suffered a big blow when Saibari had to be taken off due to an injury.

In the second half, power changed hands as Morocco took the lead in the 50th minute through Ounahi. His ferocious shot from Hakimi’s corner rifled past Crepeau and gave Morocco the lead.

Canada still continued to be on top of proceedings but failed to still get past Bono with Buchanan testing the Moroccan keeper from long range.

The game would then turn on its heads as Ounahi scored again, this time in the 82nd minute from a swift counterattack to make it 2-0 to Morocco.

With Canada clutching for a way back, Morocco saw them off in the dying minutes of additional time as substitute Rahimi scored to make it 3-0, minutes after hitting.

Despite a brave performance, Canada couldn’t hurt Morocco and paid the price against a clinical side who although weren’t brilliant today, took their chances.
