England forward keen to avoid a return to Manchester United in the summer

Marcus Rashford is prepared to take a pay cut to secure a permanent move to Barcelona this summer, as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Manchester United.

The England international has impressed during his loan spell in Spain, rebuilding his form after a difficult period in Manchester. Since arriving at Camp Nou, Rashford has averaged a goal contribution every 92 minutes, playing a key role in Barcelona’s push for the La Liga title.

He added to that form recently with his 13th goal of the season in all competitions, scoring the second in a 2-0 win over Getafe CF. His performances have helped shift early scepticism about the move, with the 27-year-old now seen as an important attacking option.

Despite that impact, a permanent deal remains uncertain due to Barcelona’s financial situation. The club continues to operate under strict spending limits, forcing its board to carefully assess any long-term commitments.

According to reports, Rashford is happy to earn less to remain in Spain, though Barcelona must still determine whether a deal is feasible within their financial constraints. Club officials are also weighing alternative transfer priorities, with some believing resources could be allocated elsewhere.

Sources close to the player indicate he remains committed to staying, with his camp viewing the ongoing speculation as part of the negotiations typical of major transfers in Spain.

Under manager Hansi Flick, Rashford has been used in a rotation-heavy system. Barcelona’s attacking depth has limited consistent starting opportunities, with Lamine Yamal the only forward to surpass 3,600 minutes this season.

Rashford has adapted to that competition, showing a willingness to accept a reduced role at times while maintaining his effectiveness when called upon.
