Winger is under contract at Old Trafford until 2028 and both he and the club are open to reintegration
Marcus Rashford could play for Manchester United again next season after the club decided against sending the forward out on another loan.
Rashford has spent the past 18 months on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona, but after the latter opted out of signing him, the 28-year-old is now expected to report back to Carrington and could become part of Michael Carrick’s plans for the new season.
United have made several cost-cutting moves which have improved their financial position and reduced the need to sell players except on their own terms. It means they are not considering sending Rashford out on yet another loan, as Barcelona seemed to have been targeting, but will instead either sell him permanently or integrate him into the squad.
A permanent move has been difficult to arrange because Rashford does not want to join another Premier League club and has not received interest from overseas clubs that match his ambitions. The player remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2028 and is understood to be interested in either a permanent move to Barcelona or to see out the terms of his contract at United.
Rashford came through United’s academy and has made more than 400 appearances for the club.
