Manchester United have sent Chido Obi-Martin to Willem II on a season-long loan so that the teenage striker can build some senior experience.
The 18-year-old moves to the Netherlands after spending last season in United’s U-21 side. The move was confirmed by United on Wednesday, with the club saying Obi had been loaned out “to gain further senior experience”.
Obi made eight senior appearances under Ruben Amorim during the 2024-25 season but was not involved in the first team last term, when he was named on the bench only once.
However, he became a regular for the U-21s, scoring 20 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions and helping United reach the FA Youth Cup final. The loan to Willem II gives him the chance to continue his development in a senior league.
The move was completed after the English transfer window had closed. The Netherlands window remained open until the end of Wednesday, allowing Willem II to complete the deal.
