Lyon’s head coach, Paulo Fonseca, expressed his disappointment following the team’s dramatic 5-4 extra-time loss to Manchester United, resulting in a 7-6 aggregate defeat in the Europa League quarter-finals.
Fonseca acknowledged the team’s efforts and the challenges faced during the match, including the red card to Corentin Tolisso. Throughout the match, Lyon were vibrant and they could’ve won it.
They just didn’t seem to have the composure they showed in the opening stages. Risky passes in defence and midfield gave the ball away to Manchester United on many occasions, and they were made to pay in the end.
Despite the setback, Fonseca remains committed to guiding Lyon forward and building on the positives from their European campaign.
