Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly agreed a deal worth up to €30 million to sign Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli as Alejandro Grimaldo’s replacement.
Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli as they move quickly to replace Alejandro Grimaldo following his summer departure to Atlético Madrid.
Leverkusen recently sanctioned Grimaldo’s move back to Spain in a deal reportedly worth around €22 million, leaving a significant gap at left-back ahead of the new Bundesliga season. The club has wasted little time identifying Gutiérrez as its preferred replacement.

According to reports, Leverkusen have reached an agreement with Napoli over a transfer worth €30 million, including performance-related bonuses. The deal is now expected to be finalised in the coming days.
The 25-year-old Spanish defender joined Napoli after impressing in La Liga and enjoyed a solid debut campaign in Serie A. He made 36 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 season, scoring once and providing one assist while establishing himself as a reliable option on the left flank.
Gutiérrez is expected to bring attacking intent and technical quality to Leverkusen’s defence, traits that made Grimaldo one of the Bundesliga’s standout full-backs during his time at the BayArena. His arrival should help maintain the team’s attacking threat from wide areas.
Leverkusen’s summer business is unlikely to end there. The Bundesliga side are also looking to reinforce the right side of their defence, with Genk full-back Zakaria El Ouahdi among the leading candidates under consideration.
With Grimaldo gone and Gutiérrez set to arrive, Leverkusen are continuing their squad rebuild as they aim to remain competitive both domestically and in Europe under the next phase of the club’s project.
