Leeds United have emerged as the frontrunners to sign free agent Julian Brandt after submitting a concrete proposal for the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Leeds United have moved to the front of the queue in the race to sign free agent Julian Brandt. The Premier League club have reportedly submitted a concrete proposal as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Brandt is currently weighing up his options after leaving Borussia Dortmund following the expiration of his contract. The attacking midfielder became available on a free transfer after ending a lengthy spell with the Bundesliga giants.
The 29-year-old departs Dortmund having made more than 300 appearances for the club, establishing himself as one of the team’s most creative players during his time at Signal Iduna Park.
According to reports, Leeds have taken decisive action by presenting an official offer to Brandt. The Yorkshire club are hoping to convince the experienced German to make the Premier League his next destination.
Leeds United have held talks with James Trafford, who Newcastle have also looked at this window. Trafford one of Leeds’ leading targets.

Reports from England also suggested that Brandt was spotted at Leeds United’s training ground last week, further fuelling speculation that discussions between the two parties are progressing positively.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke is believed to be playing a key role in the negotiations. The German coach successfully guided the club to Premier League survival last season, and his nationality, along with his familiarity with the Bundesliga, could prove to be an important factor in attracting Brandt.
Although several clubs remain interested in signing the 48-cap Germany international, Leeds currently appear to be in the strongest position. Brandt also shares international experience with players such as Anton Stach and Lukas Nmecha, adding further familiarity should he decide to continue his career under Farke in England.
