Lautaro Martinez scored twice after half-time as Inter fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Roma in a thrilling Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico.
Both sides entered the game with perfect records after four matches, but neither could maintain their 100% start as Manu Kone’s first-half brace was cancelled out by two goals from the Inter captain.

Roma made the perfect start and opened the scoring after just six minutes. Paulo Dybala delivered a dangerous cross into the box, with Nahuel Molina getting his head to the ball and setting up Kone, who finished from close range to send the home crowd into celebration.

Dybala almost doubled Roma’s advantage soon after, but his effort from distance went narrowly wide as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side continued to look dangerous.
Inter gradually found their way into the game and created several chances to equalise. Yann Bisseck saw a promising opportunity stopped by Mile Svilar, while Lautaro Martinez was unable to make the most of Federico Dimarco’s dangerous cross.
Alessandro Bastoni then came close when he struck the outside of the post from a tight angle. Those misses proved costly as Roma doubled their lead before the break.
Dybala was involved again, sending another ball into the box before Gianluca Mancini’s touch fell kindly for Kone, who made no mistake from inside the area. The goal was initially checked for offside before VAR confirmed that Kone was onside, leaving Inter with a mountain to climb at half-time.
Inter responded almost immediately after the restart. Marcus Thuram broke forward and picked out Lautaro, who finished first-time to halve the deficit just a minute into the second half.
The goal completely changed the momentum of the contest as Inter began to push for an equaliser.
Roma still had chances to restore their two-goal advantage, with Donyell Malen coming close after turning inside the box, only to see his effort stopped by Josep Martinez.
With 11 minutes remaining, Lautaro completed his comeback with his second goal of the night. Thuram’s header was brilliantly saved by Svilar, but the ball remained alive inside the box. Lautaro reacted quickest, controlling with his thigh before firing a powerful volley past the Roma goalkeeper to make it 2-2.

Inter pushed for a winner late on, with Thuram going close, but Roma managed to hold on for a point.
The result ended both teams’ perfect starts to the Serie A season, although they remain level on 13 points after five matches. Roma stay ahead on goal difference, while Inter remain unbeaten after another impressive comeback.
For Roma, the draw also extended their unbeaten home league run at the Stadio Olimpico, while Inter showed once again that they can recover even when pushed into a difficult position.
