The Bavarians had to come from behind three times during a chaotic encounter, eventually progressing 6-4 on aggregate in what Kompany described as a classic European tie.
Kompany, who was booked during the match, will miss Bayern’s semi-final first leg against reigning champions PSG. Despite that setback, the coach focused on the resilience his players displayed. “The boys were mentally strong to recover from setbacks,” Kompany said, highlighting the team’s composure and unity throughout the game. The match got off to a nightmare start for Bayern when Arda Güler capitalised on an early mistake from Manuel Neuer to score after just 35 seconds.
