Jurgen Klopp has reportedly agreed to become Germany’s new head coach with an official announcement expected soon.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set to make a sensational return to management after agreeing to become Germany’s new head coach following the departure of Julian Nagelsmann.

The former Liverpool boss is expected to take charge of the national team as they begin preparations for a new era.

Nagelsmann’s exit came just days after Germany’s disappointing World Cup campaign ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay in the Round of 32.

The 38-year-old requested to be relieved of his duties on Thursday, bringing his tenure with the four-time world champions to an abrupt end.

The German Football Association moved quickly in search of a successor, identifying Klopp as their preferred candidate almost immediately.

Klopp has been away from coaching since stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of the 2023/24 season. Since then, he has worked as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, overseeing football operations across the company’s network of clubs around the world.

Despite being under contract with Red Bull, the opportunity to manage his national team proved too significant to ignore. Reports suggest Klopp was open to discussions from the outset and was eager to return to the dugout if an agreement could be reached.

Earlier in the week, Klopp acknowledged that talks were progressing and admitted he was “ready” to accept the role as soon as the necessary arrangements with Red Bull were completed.

Should the appointment be confirmed, Klopp will inherit the task of restoring Germany to the top of world football after another disappointing World Cup campaign.
