Inter are preparing a new long-term contract for Francesco Pio Esposito after his breakout season, despite previous interest from Manchester United, Napoli and Leicester City.

Francesco Pio Esposito is set to commit his long-term future to Inter after a remarkable breakthrough campaign, with the Nerazzurri preparing a lucrative new contract for one of Italian football’s brightest young talents.

Esposito returned to San Siro this summer after an outstanding loan spell with Spezia, where he established himself as one of the most exciting forwards outside Serie A. He quickly carried that form into Inter’s first team, scoring seven league goals and playing a key role as the club secured a domestic double.

His impressive performances also earned him a senior Italy call-up, and he marked the occasion in style by scoring against Greece in an international friendly. The goal provided one of the few positives for the Azzurri following their disappointing failure to qualify for this summer’s World Cup.

Transfer reports has revealed that Inter are now ready to reward Esposito with a new long-term deal. While speculation has linked several Premier League clubs with the striker, reports claim that most of that interest dates back well before the youngster established himself in Milan.

According to reports, both Manchester United and Leicester City closely monitored Esposito during his loan spell at Spezia.

Napoli were also serious admirers of the forward. Reports suggest the reigning Serie A side considered making a significant financial offer last summer, with both a substantial transfer fee and an attractive salary package prepared in an effort to lure him away from Inter.

Instead, Inter have moved quickly to ensure one of their most promising academy graduates remains at the club. Esposito is expected to sign a new five-year contract worth between €3.5 million and €4 million per season, including a fixed salary component and additional performance-related bonuses.
