Inter Milan defeated Cagliari 3-0 to go 12 points clear at the top of Serie A, moving closer to the title with a dominant second-half performance.

Inter Milan moved a significant step closer to the Serie A title with a commanding 3-0 victory over Cagliari at the San Siro, extending their lead at the top of the table to 12 points.

Despite their dominance, Inter were left frustrated in the opening stages, failing to convert a series of early chances within the first 20 minutes of the match.

A swift counter-attack saw Marcus Thuram combine brilliantly with Francesco Pio Esposito, setting up Federico Dimarco for a close-range effort that was dramatically cleared off the line by Michel Adopo. Inter continued to push but found it difficult to break down a disciplined Cagliari defence, with Elia Caprile producing a fine save to deny Esposito just before half-time.

Cristian Chivu appeared to inspire his side during the interval, as Inter returned for the second half with renewed intensity and purpose.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 52nd minute when Thuram calmly finished after a precise and creative pass from Dimarco, sending the home crowd into celebration. Just four minutes later, Nicolo Barella doubled Inter’s advantage with a powerful strike, effectively ending the contest as Cagliari struggled to recover.

Late in the game, Piotr Zielinski added a third goal to seal the victory, marking Inter’s third consecutive league win and leaving them on the brink of Scudetto glory, while Cagliari remained 16th, still six points clear of the relegation zone.
