Harry Kane has been undeniably the best player in the world, but still, there are doubts around whether he deserves the Balon d’Or.
The 2025/26 football season has reached its end, and once again, there is a debate for who deserves the Balon d’Or. The top names on the list are Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele.
These four players have undoubtedly been the best in the world, but if there’s a debate for who really deserves it, my argument will be in favour of Harry Kane.
Harry Kane has 71 goal contributions this season and it’s a debate for who deserves Ballon D’or.

Harry Kane absolutely deserves the Balon d’Or. He’s been the best player in Europe by a huge mile.
His Numbers
Harry Kane finished the season with 66 goals and 8 assists in 56 games. This record saw him win the European Golden Boot and the Bundesliga Golden Boot, where he scored 36 goals in 31 games.

In the Champions League, he is the second-highest goalscorer with 14 goals in 13 appearances. His goal-scoring form saw him go on a 21-game scoring streak, becoming the only player in Europe to do that.
He also scored in every UCL knockout game until Bayern Munich were eliminated in the semifinals. He broke the record for most goals by an Englishman in a season while equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 61 goals in a season.

Harry Kane has provided seven assists this season while helping Bayern out from the back.
Unlike traditional strikers, Kane has dropped beyond the halfway line, even down to the goal arc, to receive the ball and push his team to attack.
He has been involved in Bayern Munich’s overall play, switching the ball from one side of the pitch to the other with his assist to Luis Diaz vs Bayern, further highlighting his playmaking ability. He also created more big chances this season than the likes of Dembele, Kvaratskhelia, Saka, Rayan Cherki and Florian Wirtz.
If you look purely at goals and assists, Harry Kane has 65 this season for Bayern Munich (58 goals and 7 assists). If you include internationals, Harry Kane has 70 goals and assists (63 goals and 7 assists).

Harry Kane has come clutch for Bayern on multiple occasions this season, and he showed that again in the DFB-Pokal final, where he scored a hat-trick to help Bayern win the title for the first time in six years.
He has now won a domestic treble, which means he has won more trophies than his closest opponents to win the Ballon d’Or.
In terms of numbers and overall play, he leads the way, and he doesn’t need to have an exceptional World Cup campaign to seal the Balon d’Or. This year is Harry Kane’s year, and he’s proved he’s more than worthy of the title of the best player in Europe.
