Everton have agreed a deal worth up to £24 million to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George after his successful loan spell.

Everton have agreed a deal worth up to £24 million, including add-ons, to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George on a permanent transfer.

The move comes after the 20-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Goodison Park in the second half of last season.

The original loan agreement included an option to buy for £25 million, but Everton have successfully renegotiated the structure of the deal. The Toffees will now pay an initial fee of around £18 million, with the remaining amount tied to performance-related add-ons.

Chelsea have also secured a 15% sell-on clause as part of the agreement, ensuring they could benefit financially if George is sold in the future. The transfer is now subject to the player agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.

Although George made only 11 appearances during his loan spell and started just once, he made a strong impression on Everton manager David Moyes. The experienced coach praised the youngster’s attitude and commitment, describing him as “an excellent boy with an excellent work-rate.”

The England Under-21 international has long been regarded as one of Chelsea’s promising academy graduates. However, opportunities at Stamford Bridge have been limited, and the club has been open to a permanent sale over the past year.

George attracted interest from several clubs before Everton sealed the deal. RB Leipzig explored a move last summer, while a proposed £22 million transfer to Fulham collapsed on deadline day in September 2025, leaving Everton to eventually secure his signature.

The winger is set to become Everton’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough in a deal worth £16 million, excluding add-ons. The club has also completed the permanent signing of German midfielder Merlin Röhl after his successful loan spell.
