Jose Mourinho has ruled out an exit for Endrick this season after confirming Real Madrid rejected offers from a number of clubs.

The 20-year-old returned to Madrid this summer following a productive loan spell at Lyon and has attracted interest for both a loan and a permanent move. Liverpool and Aston Villa have been among the Premier League clubs reported to be interested.

Mourinho said Endrick is part of his plans and that he had not considered allowing the forward to leave.

“He’s a player I like a lot and who has had many contacts from clubs that wanted him on loan or transferred,” Mourinho said.

“I didn’t want to loan or sell him because I like the player, and I’d like to work with this young player who has important talents.”

Endrick strengthened his case during pre-season, scoring in Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Fiorentina. He also represented Brazil at the recent World Cup before returning to club football.

His immediate progress has been interrupted by a muscular problem. Mourinho said Endrick has “a small tendonitis in the muscle [hamstring]” and is currently being managed as a precaution.

The injury could affect his availability for Brazil’s friendly against Australia on 25 September. Mourinho said he was uncertain whether Endrick would be included in Carlo Ancelotti’s next squad.

“It’s a matter of prevention before it becomes a big problem,” Mourinho said. “I’m not sure if he will make it to [Carlo] Ancelotti’s squad call-up for the national team, but given that one of my great friends is the coach of my players, it’s a big advantage. Carlo will call me directly.”
