Length of deal not revealed by Atalanta; United have since signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans
Ederson has signed a new contract at Atalanta after his move to Manchester United broke down earlier this month.
The 27-year-old had been due to enter the final year of his previous deal, with his contract originally set to run until 2027. Instead, he has committed his future to the Serie A club, although Atalanta did not reveal the length of the extension.
United had agreed a €40.5m (£34.5m) fee plus add-ons for Ederson in June, while personal terms had also been settled. The Brazil midfielder had an initial round of medical tests in the US before Brazil’s World Cup campaign ended.
A second series of examinations in England on 7 July led United to reconsider the transfer and the club decided not to complete the move on the financial terms already agreed.
United have since strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Tielemans’ move gathered pace once it became clear the Premier League club would not proceed with the Ederson deal.
Confirming the renewal, Atalanta said: “After an initial four-year stint with the Nerazzurri, studded with excellent results and mutual satisfaction, the bond between Ederson and Atalanta has further consolidated.
“The entire club wishes Ederson the best of luck, both personally and as a team, as he continues his journey in the Nerazzurri shirt.”
Ederson joined Atalanta in 2022 and has made 180 appearances for the club. He helped them win the Europa League in 2024 with victory over Bayer Leverkusen and has also earned five caps for Brazil.
