Borussia Dortmund overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Hoffenheim 3-2, scoring three times in the final 30 minutes to maintain their perfect start to the Bundesliga season.
Borussia Dortmund produced a remarkable second-half comeback to beat Hoffenheim 3-2 on Saturday, recovering from two goals down to snatch victory three minutes from time.
Hoffenheim had dominated the opening half and repeatedly pushed Dortmund deep into their own half. Gregor Kobel was forced into an excellent save before the break, tipping Adam Daghim’s angled effort around the post after Tim Lemperle had created the opening with a clever backheel.
The pressure finally paid off shortly before half-time when Leon Avdullahu produced a stunning curling finish from around 25 yards to give the hosts a deserved lead. Dortmund were already dealing with problems after Filippo Mane was forced off injured, leaving Niko Kovac with an early reshuffle to make.
Hoffenheim continued where they left off after the interval and doubled their advantage in the 54th minute. Lemperle showed impressive determination to win possession from Joane Gadou before driving towards goal, with his effort taking a major deflection and looping over Kobel into the net.

Two goals down, Dortmund appeared to be heading towards their first defeat of the season. Instead, the visitors suddenly found another gear and turned the match on its head with a quick-fire double shortly after the hour mark.
Waldemar Anton started the comeback by winning possession high up the pitch before finding Serhou Guirassy, who calmly lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to reduce the deficit. Guirassy then turned creator, setting up substitute Fabio Silva, who produced an excellent angled finish to make it 2-2.
With momentum now firmly on Dortmund’s side, both teams pushed for a winner in a frantic closing period. The decisive moment arrived with just three minutes remaining when Ethan Nwaneri surged forward and sent the ball across the face of goal, leaving Albian Hajdari with little choice but to turn it into his own net.

The defeat leaves Hoffenheim with a painful start to the campaign, having suffered consecutive 3-2 losses after taking two-goal leads in both matches. Dortmund, meanwhile, have won their opening two Bundesliga games and sit joint top, while extending their impressive recent record against Hoffenheim to just one defeat in their last 13 meetings.
