Roberto De Zerbi insists Tottenham can still avoid relegation despite a late draw with Brighton.

Roberto De Zerbi has insisted Tottenham Hotspur are not finished yet in their fight for Premier League survival, despite a heartbreaking 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tottenham looked set to secure a crucial victory after twice taking the lead, with Xavi Simons’ stunning 77th-minute strike seemingly enough to seal all three points.

However, the mood inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium quickly turned from celebration to despair when Georginio Rutter struck late to snatch a draw for Brighton. The result leaves Tottenham 18th in the table, one point behind West Ham United and two adrift of Nottingham Forest, with just five matches remaining in the season.

Relegation is now a serious threat for last season’s Europa League winners, with the club facing the prospect of their first drop from the top flight since 1977.

Despite the setback, De Zerbi remained optimistic, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation but expressing belief that his side can still win all of their remaining games. The Italian manager also challenged his players to stay mentally strong, urging them to trust his approach, remain focused, and maintain a positive mindset heading into their next fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

While Tottenham’s winless run stretches back to December, De Zerbi believes the squad’s quality can still make the difference, a view echoed by Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, who praised Spurs’ attacking talent and backed them to survive.
