Arsenal have completed the signing of former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer, strengthening their goalkeeping department ahead of the new Premier League season.
The French shot-stopper has successfully completed his medical examinations and signed his contract, officially becoming Mikel Arteta’s second addition of the summer transfer window.

Meslier is expected to provide strong competition for first-choice goalkeeper David Raya and fellow shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga as Arsenal prepare to defend their Premier League title and compete across multiple competitions.
Reports confirmed today that Meslier had already completed his medical in London before putting pen to paper on his Arsenal contract. The 25-year-old was convinced by Arsenal’s long-term project and quickly agreed to join the North London club after discussions with the Premier League champions.
Meslier follows defender Piero Hincapie through the door at the Emirates after Arsenal made the Ecuador international’s loan move from Bayer Leverkusen permanent earlier this summer, with Arteta continuing to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
