Arsenal began their Premier League title defence in fine fashion, beating Coventry City 3-0 on the opening day of the new season.
It is a rough day at the office fo newly promoted Coventry City as they were given a tough welcome to the Premier League by defending champions Arsenal.

Coventry were pretty impressive in the opening seven minutes, showing that they could knock the ball around. They also denied the Gunners from going ahead in the opening minutes with some fine defending as the Gunners slowly entered a flow state.
However, it was only a matter of time before Arsenal scored, and the goal eventually came in the 15th minute after a defensive lapse from Van Ewijk. Ewijk failed to clear his lines on time, and he gifted possession to Arsenal. Calafiori played the perfect pass to Havertz, who put it in the bottom corner.
Arsenal were firmly in control, and it was only a matter of time before Arsenal added a second. Poor defending again from Coventry allowed Arsenal to tear them apart, and a poor attempt by the keeper to stop a cross-field pass handed Saka an easy tap-in to make it 2-0.
Arsenal carved out several chances to make it 3-0, with Tzolis nearly getting on the scoresheet on two occasions.

Arsenal ended the first half 2-0 but immediately picked up where they left off with Odegaard scoring Arsenal’s third in the 49th minute. The game was beyond reach for Coventry, and they did very little to pull one back.
The Sky Blues had their first shot on target in the 85th minute, and it was a tame effort which Raya saved comfortably.
Coventry’s welcome to the Premier League was a harsh lesson from Arsenal but they know that they will have better days.
