Full-back’s injury comes after Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha were both substituted with issues of their own against Burnley
Manchester United have been handed another fitness concern ahead of the derby against Manchester City, with Diogo Dalot forced to pull out of Portugal’s squad through injury.
The full-back played the full 90 minutes in United’s 3-2 win at Burnley on Saturday but has since reported a muscle problem after joining up with his national team.
He will return to Carrington this week for further assessment by United’s medical staff.
United’s next fixture is a trip to the Etihad Stadium on 14 September, their first game after the international break. Dalot has been a regular in Amorim’s early selections this season, starting three of their four matches so far and appearing as a substitute in the fourth one against Fulham.
The full-back’s injury comes after Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha were both substituted with issues of their own against Burnley.
Cunha suffered a hamstring issue in the first half and was substituted with only half an hour gone. The Brazilian was also dropped from his national side this week.
Mount has been an important player for Amorim through pre-season and into the start of the season, with the Englishman highly rated by his manager.
Regarding their injury, Amorim said: “I’m concerned about that because they are so important for us.
“We need those guys really badly to be really competitive.”
