Chelsea has cancelled Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich due to Liam Delap’s hamstring injury, leaving the club with only one fit striker, Joao Pedro.

Chelsea has made a dramatic U-turn on Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich, instructing the striker to return to London after he had already travelled to Germany for a medical.

The decision was made following Liam Delap’s serious-looking hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday. Manager Enzo Maresca estimated that Delap may be out for six to eight weeks.

The collapse of the loan deal has reportedly left Jackson angry, and attempts are expected to be made to salvage the situation. Jackson’s agent, Diomansy Kamara, commented on social media with the phrase “The plane doesn’t go backwards… Munich,” indicating his disappointment with the turn of events.

Chelsea’s decision to cancel the loan move has left the club with only one fit striker, Joao Pedro, who has scored five goals in five starts. The team had previously sold Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan for £36 million, and Delap’s injury has further complicated their attacking options.

Maresca expressed uncertainty about the situation after the match, saying, “I just finished the game, came here, and have no idea. We’re going to sit now, and we’ll see. Honestly, I have no idea.” He added that having two strikers is usually enough, but when one is injured for several weeks, it’s not sufficient.

The injury to Delap has forced Chelsea to reassess their priorities, and they have decided to retain Jackson for now.  Jackson will now wear blue for Chelsea instead of red for Bayern Munich when the two teams meet in the Champions League on September 17.
