Inter Milan has set a €50 million limit for signing Ademola Lookman, with Napoli still in the running despite Inter’s current negotiations.

Inter Milan has reportedly set a price limit of €45 million before bonuses and €50 million including them for signing Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri have been trying to secure the services of the Nigerian international for several weeks but have yet to find a breakthrough in negotiations with Atalanta, who are hesitant to sell one of their star players to a direct league rival.

Atalanta’s reluctance to sell Lookman stems from their valuation of the player, which Inter Milan seems willing to meet.

However, the two clubs have yet to agree on the terms of the transfer. Lookman himself has expressed frustration with the situation, accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and treating him poorly as a person and professional. He has also decided not to report for training with La Dea, leading to a stalemate in the negotiations.

Despite the challenges, Inter Milan remains committed to signing Lookman, who has already agreed to personal terms with the club.

The player’s preference for Inter Milan over other interested clubs, including Napoli, suggests that the Nerazzurri might have an edge in the transfer race. Napoli had initially expressed interest in signing Lookman as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but seem to have been overtaken by Inter Milan in the negotiations.

However, Napoli are not entirely out of the running, and they could make a move for Lookman if Inter Milan decides to back out of negotiations. Napoli had previously offered Lookman a higher salary before he reached an agreement with Inter Milan, and they might try to revive their interest in the player if the opportunity arises.

The situation remains fluid, with Atalanta’s CEO Luca Percassi clarifying that there is an agreement in place to let Lookman leave this summer, but only for a ‘top’ club outside of Italy. This condition adds another layer of complexity to the negotiations, and it’s unclear how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
