Tottenham Hotspur have approached Manchester City about signing winger Savinho, with talks underway between the two clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur have initiated talks with Manchester City over a potential transfer for winger Savinho.
The 21-year-old Brazilian international has been a key player for City since joining from sister club Troyes last summer. Savinho’s impressive form, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists in 48 appearances, has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Tottenham.
According to reports, a fee of around £43m (€50m) has been discussed in the talks, but City are unlikely to sell Savinho without a significantly higher offer. The club values Savinho highly and would require a substantial bid to consider letting him go. Tottenham’s interest in Savinho is driven by the need for a quality replacement for Heung-Min Son, who left the club this summer after a decade of service.
Savinho’s versatility and skills make him an attractive prospect for Tottenham.
He can play as a winger or at number 10, which would be particularly useful given James Maddison’s long-term injury. Dejan Kulusevski has previously filled in at number 10 when Maddison was out, but Savinho’s abilities could provide a more permanent solution.
Tottenham have already spent £120.3m on six signings this summer, including Mohammed Kudus, who joined from West Ham for £55m. Other signings include Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel, whose loan moves were made permanent, and Luka Vuskovic and Kota Takai, who joined for £9.5m and £5m, respectively.
Savinho’s potential departure from Manchester City would be contingent on the club finding suitable replacements. Pep Guardiola’s squad is currently over the UEFA limit for Champions League registration, and City need to offload several players to make room for new signings. Savinho’s exit would create space for other players to step in and make an impact.
With the deadline for transfers looming, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can secure Savinho’s services and strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
