Chelsea is looking to get rid of Ben Chilwell due to his high wages and lack of interest from potential buyers, with contract termination being a possible solution.

Chelsea is facing a challenge in offloading Ben Chilwell, who is not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans. The defender’s £200,000-a-week salary is a significant obstacle in finding a buyer for the club. Chilwell spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, but the Eagles have shown no interest in signing him permanently.

With a lack of suitors, Chelsea may be forced to allow Chilwell to leave the club for free. There are reports that the Blues could terminate the left-back’s contract if they cannot find a buyer for him. However, this would not be a cheap operation, as Chilwell still has two years remaining on his lucrative deal. On those wages, Chilwell is one of Chelsea’s highest-paid players.

Despite the challenges, there have been some potential leads on finding a new home for Chilwell.

Burnley have reportedly enquired about signing the England international this summer. If Burnley’s interest materializes, Chelsea may still be able to find a buyer for Chilwell. However, if not, it seems likely that the Club World Cup winners could terminate the player’s contract.

The situation with Chilwell is not the only transfer news at Chelsea.

The club is targeting Jorrel Hato as they look for cover for Marc Cucurella. Hato could potentially arrive at Stamford Bridge, while Chilwell is on his way out. Chelsea’s transfer strategy is focused on strengthening their squad, and they may need to make some tough decisions to achieve their goals.

Chelsea’s experience with João Felix may provide some guidance on how to handle the Chilwell situation. Felix is set to join Al-Nassr, which will give Chelsea one less thing to worry about. The club may need to explore similar options for Chilwell if they cannot find a buyer.
