Midfielder was the subject of a controversial £60m approach from Tottenham
Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new three-year contract with Nottingham Forest, ending a dispute between the club and Tottenham Hotspur over his future.
The club said the new deal was a record agreement and “statement of intent from our owner Evangelos Marinakis”.
Forest are eager to build a stronger team around key players like Gibbs-White ahead of the new season.
The midfielder had been the subject of a controversial £60m approach from Spurs earlier this month. Forest claimed the bid was made without their consent and was therefore illegal.
Gibbs-White did not travel with the rest of Forest’s squad to their pre-season training camp in Portugal earlier in the week due to a personal family matter.
However, the 25-year-old later flew out separately and joined the team ahead of the friendly matches against Fulham on Saturday and Estoril.
He featured for Forest in the second half of their 3-1 pre-season loss to Fulham on Saturday.
Forest started with a youthful lineup against Fulham but introduced a stronger XI in the second half. However, by then Harry Wilson had already scored twice for Fulham.
Andreas Pereira added a third before Chris Wood pulled one back for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side late on.
