Arsenal has completed the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia on a 5-year deal, with the defender joining the Gunners to fill the gap left by Takehiro Tomiyasu’s departure.
Arsenal has strengthened its defence with the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. The 21-year-old defender has joined the Gunners on a five-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months. The initial fee for the transfer is reportedly around 15 million euros (£13 million).
Mosquera is a versatile defender who can play at both centre-back and right-back.
His signing will help fill the gap in the squad left by the departure of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who mutually agreed to terminate his contract earlier this month. Mosquera’s ability to play in multiple positions will provide Mikel Arteta with more options for his defensive lineup.
The Spain Under-21 international has made 90 appearances for Valencia and was a regular for the club last season, playing the full match in 37 of their 38 La Liga games. Mosquera’s experience and quality will be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s squad. He follows Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Noni Madueke in being added to Arteta’s squad this summer.
Mosquera is set to join the Arsenal squad on their pre-season tour in Asia, having already been given permission to travel by Valencia before the deal was confirmed. The signing of Mosquera is another positive development for Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
