Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Malacia have all been deemed surplus to requirements this summer

Manchester United have excluded Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia from their pre-season tour of the United States, with the four first-team players considered surplus to requirements.

All four have been training away from the main squad at Carrington and will remain in Manchester when the team departs for Chicago on Tuesday.

Head coach Ruben Amorim wants the opportunity to train his squad without lingering dressing room distractions from players who have no future at the club.

The move is a clear break from the club’s compromises last summer under Erik ten Hag, when they allowed Jadon Sancho to train with the squad even though his relationship with the manager had collapsed.

United are open to offers for the quintet and sources close to the situation say the club are prepared to accept significantly reduced fees to see them out the door before the transfer window closes.

United’s tour of the US will include fixtures against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. Joining the squad are new signings Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo, who has just completed his £71m move from Brentford.
