Saudi Pro League side enter race for No 9 as deadline for his release clause draws nears

Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are ready to rival Manchester United for the signing of Fiorentina striker Moise Kean.

The club are understood to have made a formal approach for the player and are prepared to meet his €52m release clause. Clubs have until a deadline of 15 July to activate the clause before it expires.

The move comes after the club’s pursuit of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen collapsed, with the Nigerian close to a deal to remain at Turkish side Galatasaray. According to Calciomercato, Al-Hilal have already held direct talks with Kean’s representatives and are prepared to offer a four-year deal worth €20m per season.

The 25-year-old Kean was the second-highest scorer in Serie A last season and is entering the final year of his contract with Fiorentina. The Italian club are keen to keep him and have tabled a new contract offer worth €4m annually. They are hoping that no club activates his release clause before the provided deadline.

Manchester United have been linked with Kean and are reportedly monitoring the situation closely. The Premier League club are in search of a No 9 this summer but have seen their moves for Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres fail. Sources say United have made initial contact with Kean’s camp, although they have not yet moved to trigger the clause
