Left-back’s signing is set to take Liverpool’s summer spending to more than £200m
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in a deal worth £40 million, as Arne Slot continues to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
The 21-year-old left-back has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions, becoming the latest addition in what is turning into one of the club’s busiest transfer windows in recent years.
Kerkez joins a growing list of first-team signings. Earlier in the window, Liverpool secured right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5m, and then moved swiftly to land Florian Wirtz from the same club in a deal that could rise to £116m, potentially breaking the British transfer record.
The Reds have also finalised a £29m deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will officially complete his move to Anfield on 1 July. With the addition of Kerkez, Liverpool’s summer spending has now topped £200m.
Kerkez stood out for Bournemouth last season, making 38 Premier League appearances in which he scored twice and provided six assists. His consistent performances caught the attention of Liverpool scouts months ago.
The move also reunites Kerkez with Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, who previously worked at Bournemouth and was responsible for bringing the Hungarian international to England from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.
Bournemouth had already prepared for his departure, signing Adrien Truffert from Rennes in a deal that could be worth up to £14.3m.
Kerkez is expected to compete with Andy Robertson for the left-back position as Arne Slot begins to build a side that can defend the Premier League title while challenging again in Europe.
