Club initially submitted a bid worth £55 million to Brentford for Cameroon international
Manchester United are set to submit an improved bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo after seeing their initial offer rejected.
The Red Devils made their first move earlier this week, offering £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons for the 25-year-old, but the bid was swiftly turned down by the west London club. Despite the rejection, negotiations between the two sides have remained active.
Now, United are preparing to return with a revised package worth more than £60 million, according to ESPN. This is closer to the £62.5 million deal that United paid for Matheus Cunha, with Brentford having made it clear that they want a similar sum for their best player.
United are impressed by Mbeumo’s desire to join the club, but if the deal proves too complicated they are prepared to walk away, speed and financial discipline being a key part of the club’s strategy this window.
Mbeumo enjoyed a stellar 2024-25 Premier League season, scoring 20 goals and finishing as the league’s fourth-highest scorer, trailing only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak. His consistency in front of goal and years of experience in the Premier League has made him a top target for United as they look to bolster their attacking options under head coach Ruben Amorim.
