Chelsea had an easy semi-final game against Djurgarden over two legs. It wasn’t even a contest, especially this second leg.

Chelsea made it to another European final and their first UEFA Europa Conference League final after beating Swedish side Djurgarden 5-1 on aggregate.

Coming into the second leg with a 4-1 scoreline, Enzo Maresca decided to rotate the squad and give the younger players a chance. Tyrique George, Reggie Walsh and Achaempong were named in the starting XI while the big names were rested ahead of the Premier League clash against Newcastle.

It was an easy fixture for the Blues as they passed their way to the final. They were still the better team by a mile despite starting a young squad. This showed the gulf in squad depth and quality between the two teams. Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners on the night, thanks to a first-half goal by Dewsbury-Hall, and it was enough to guarantee them a place in the final.

While the away fans were loud for the whole of the match, their team weren’t as loud on the pitch. They couldn’t hurt Chelsea in any way or form. The youngsters that Maresca gave game time to played really impressively. Walsh showed his confidence, and Antwi, who came from the bench, made his mark after turning Victor Berg inside out. It was a walk in the park for the Blues, who are now within touching distance of a European trophy.

Winning it will make them the only club to have won all the trophies in the different tiers of European football, and it will definitely be a feather in the cap of Enzo Maresca, who will have a trophy in his first season at the club. For Chelsea fans, there’s the belief that this trophy is in the bag but they’ll have to wait about 20 days to confirm when they play Real Betis in Wroclaw.
