Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca lauded his team’s comprehensive 4-1 away victory over Djurgården in the UEFA Conference League semi-final first leg.

Despite fielding a rotated squad, the Blues showcased their depth and quality, with Enzo Fernández orchestrating the midfield and providing key assists to Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke.

It was barely a contest for Chelsea as they blew away their Swedish opponents in fine style.

Maresca highlighted the significance of the win, stating, “It’s a step closer to our goal. The players executed the game plan effectively, and the result reflects their hard work.”

He also commended Nicolas Jackson’s impact off the bench, as the striker netted a quickfire brace to solidify Chelsea’s lead.

However, Maresca cautioned against complacency, referencing a previous near-collapse against Legia Warsaw. “We must remain focused and not repeat past mistakes. The job isn’t finished yet,” he warned.

The manager also addressed the team’s defensive lapse that led to Djurgården’s late consolation goal, emphasizing the need for concentration throughout the full 90 minutes to ensure progression to the final.
