Chelsea Striker Nicolas Jackson ended his 13-game goal drought today by finding the back of the net for Chelsea in their 1-0 win against Everton.

The Senegalese striker who has been out with injury for about 2 months showed once again why his manager believed in him. His strike from the edge of the box in the 27th minute was enough for Chelsea to get the win and it marked his first long range goal in the Premier League.

Can Jackson Tempt Chelsea to Avoid Buying A Striker?

Nicolas Jackson now has 10 goals and 5 assists this season in the Premier League this season, hitting double figures in both his first and second season for Chelsea.

He scored 14 goals in the league last season, and this season, he is within touching distance of his goal record. 14 goals a season isn’t a bad record, but Chelsea needs more—at least that’s what the fans want.

There is still a clamour for the club to get a better and more clinical striker. Even though Jackson has tried his best, it doesn’t seem enough, and Nkunku, although the highest goal scorer in the team, is behind Jackson in the pecking order.

Despite these circumstances, it seems that the Senegalese forward has charmed his manager and maybe the club’s bosses.

Maresca seems to trust his striker and to an extent, the Senegalese forward looks like a perfect fit for the Chelsea set up despite his lack of clinical finishing.

Last season had people hoping for a lot but this season, he hasn’t quite lived up to expectation. Other factors that have contributed to this include his injury, Palmer’s dip in form and Chelsea’s poor run in the league.

It remains to be seen if the club will get another striker but with Maresca’s backing and a contract that runs till 2029, Jackson may just be Chelsea’s target man for a while.
