Raphinha has been handed Brazil’s famous No 10 shirt for the national team’s upcoming friendlies, taking over the number long associated with Neymar.
The Barcelona forward is among the players given new squad numbers for the 26-man travelling party. Raphinha, 29, will wear the shirt previously worn by Neymar for more than a decade, while Endrick has been assigned No 9 in the absence of Matheus Cunha.
Raphinha has become an important figure for Brazil and will take on the number previously worn by players including Pele and Ronaldinho.
The change also comes amid his remarkable form for Barcelona so far this season. Reborn as the centre-forward in Hansi Flick’s sizzling attack, he has scored 14 goals already in just eight appearances, including two hat-tricks within the space of three days last week.
Endrick, meanwhile, has been given the centre-forward shirt as Brazil look to develop the Real Madrid youngster as a long-term option in attack. Estevao has been assigned No 11, while Vinicius Junior keeps No 7.
There are fewer changes elsewhere in the squad. Marquinhos retains No 4 and Gabriel Magalhaes No 3, while Hugo Souza has been given the No 1 shirt.
