Manchester City have agreed a deal in principle to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for an initial £60m, with a further £5m available in add-ons.
The 26-year-old Senegal forward has been given permission to undergo a medical on Tuesday morning, with the transfer expected to be completed before the window closes. City revived their interest in Ndiaye after Liverpool rejected their approach for Cody Gakpo.
Ndiaye had appeared set to join Tottenham after Spurs reached an agreement in principle with Everton over the weekend. That deal was linked to Richarlison moving back to Everton, but the Brazilian is now expected to remain at Tottenham after the proposed transfer stalled.
Tottenham have subsequently explored a loan move for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk, while City moved decisively for Ndiaye. The Premier League champions had registered their interest in the forward last week and saw him as an alternative after their pursuit of Gakpo ended.
Ndiaye joined Everton from Marseille in 2024 for £15m. He has scored 17 goals and supplied four assists in 73 appearances for the club, starting Everton’s opening matches of this season and providing an assist in the opening-day draw with Crystal Palace.
He had rejected several offers of a new Everton contract last season despite having three years remaining on his existing agreement. Everton sources have maintained that he has conducted himself professionally throughout the summer.
City’s move continues a busy period in the attacking department. Savinho and Omar Marmoush have left for Tottenham, while the club announced the signing of Brazilian winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras on Monday in a deal worth £32m.
