The Oranje arrive at the tournament carrying the weight of history, having reached three World Cup finals without ever lifting the trophy. Their most recent appearance in the final came in 2010, when they were beaten by Spain after extra time.
Despite their strong pedigree, Koeman believes success will only come if his team remains focused on the immediate challenge ahead. The Dutch manager acknowledged that expectations are high but stressed the importance of taking the tournament one match at a time.
“We put a lot of pressure on ourselves because we want to go far in the tournament,” Koeman said. “We have a strong team and we know what we need to improve to have a real chance, but first we need to focus on Japan.”
