Manger has won five trophies in two seasons since arriving in Catalonia
Hansi Flick will stay at Barcelona until 2028 at least after the club extended his contract by another year in the aftermath of their second La Liga title win under the German.
Flick’s previous deal had been due to expire in 2027, but the Spanish champions moved quickly to secure his future following a successful campaign that saw Barcelona retain the league crown. Their title was confirmed after the 2-0 clásico victory over Real Madrid earlier in May.
The 61-year-old arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2024 as successor to Xavi Hernandez and has already won five trophies during his time in charge.
Flick had already indicated in recent months that he intended to remain at the club and said the Barcelona job would be the final role of his managerial career.
“I’ve realised I’m in the right place,” Flick said last week. “It’s a commitment on our part to reach the highest level and win new titles.
“Everyone dreams of the Champions League. We’ve tried and we’ll keep trying. I’m grateful for the trust placed in me to continue.”
The German began his coaching career with FC Bammental in 1996 and has since worked with TSG Hoffenheim, RB Salzburg, the German national team and Bayern Munich, serving in both assistant and head coaching roles.
Flick has also spoken positively about life at Barcelona, previously describing the club as the best environment he has experienced in football.
“I had a great time with the national team and with Bayern, but here I feel that everything around me is the best,” Flick said. “Looking at everything, my career and my family, I’m very happy.”
