Torino are reportedly considering former Italy manager Gennaro Gattuso as a replacement for Roberto D’Aversa after a disappointing Serie A season left the club far from the European places.
Gennaro Gattuso could be set for a swift return to management, with Torino reportedly weighing up a move for the former Italy head coach ahead of next season.

Gattuso left his role with the Italian national team at the beginning of April after the Azzurri failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 48-year-old’s reign lasted just nine months following his appointment in June 2025.
Italy’s hopes of reaching the tournament ended in heartbreaking fashion after a play-off defeat on penalties to Bosnia & Herzegovina, a result that ultimately brought Gattuso’s spell in charge to an abrupt conclusion. Despite that disappointment, the former AC Milan midfielder is already attracting interest from Serie A clubs. Reports from Tuttosport suggest Torino are seriously considering him as a potential replacement for current coach Roberto D’Aversa.
If Torino decide to move forward with the appointment, Gattuso is expected to be offered a three-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Club president Urbano Cairo is reportedly a strong admirer of the Italian coach and believes he could restore competitiveness to the squad.
Torino have struggled for consistency throughout the current Serie A campaign and sit 13th in the standings. They are currently 21 points adrift of the European qualification places, leaving growing frustration around the club’s direction.

Gattuso’s fiery personality and demanding style could appeal to Torino as they look to rebuild ahead of next season. While no final decision has been made, the former Italy boss now appears firmly in contention to take over in Turin this summer.
