Osasuna 1-2 Barcelona: Garcia 88; Lewandowski 81, Torres 86
A second La Liga title in two years under Hansi Flick is so close now for Barcelona and surely it is simply awaiting confirmation. That could come on Sunday if Real Madrid do not get a result against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium.
Otherwise, it could very well come at Camp Nou on 10 May, when Barcelona face Madrid in the season’s final clásico.
Two late goals on Saturday secured a 2-1 win away to Osasuna that extended Barcelona’s lead at the top provisionally to 14 points, one of the wider margins in recent seasons, but for long stretches in Pamplona the game appeared destined to frustrate the visitors.
Osasuna were compact and limited clear chances for the visitors, but the game never looked like it would end goalless and in the 81st minute, substitute Marcus Rashford delivered a pinpoint cross that was powered in by Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona quickly built on that advantage. Five minutes later, Fermin Lopez threaded a pass through to Ferran Torres, who finished low through the goalkeeper’s legs to double the lead and seemingly settle the contest.
There was still chance for Osasuna to make things tricky and Raul Garcia pulled a goal back with a header from close range in the 89th minute, after a cross from Abel Bretones. But Barcelona would hold on.
