PSG will be without Achraf Hakimi for the Champions League second leg against Bayern Munich after the Moroccan defender suffered a thigh injury in Tuesday’s dramatic first-leg win.

PSG have been dealt a potentially huge setback ahead of their trip to Germany after confirming that Achraf Hakimi will miss next week’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich due to a thigh injury.

The Moroccan full-back was one of PSG’s most influential performers in the thrilling first-leg victory, making his absence a serious concern as Luis Enrique’s side attempt to protect their narrow aggregate lead.

Hakimi picked up the injury during Tuesday night’s chaotic 5-4 win in Paris. Midway through the contest, the right-back was seen clutching his thigh in discomfort, but with PSG having already used all of their substitutions, he was forced to battle on through the closing stages. Despite the physical issue, he still played a decisive part in the match, providing the assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s fourth goal as the French champions carved out a slender one-goal advantage.

Medical assessments carried out on Wednesday confirmed the damage was significant enough to sideline him for the next few weeks. That timeline immediately rules him out of the crucial return leg in Munich, a match that could define PSG’s hopes of reaching a second consecutive Champions League final.

Luis Enrique has repeatedly built PSG’s European game model around adventurous full-backs, and Hakimi is arguably the most important of them. His speed, overlapping runs and ability to recover defensively make him a uniquely valuable outlet, especially in high-tempo knockout matches.

As if that news was not damaging enough, PSG also confirmed another thigh injury within the squad. Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier suffered a muscular issue during Wednesday morning’s training session and will also be sidelined for several weeks. While Chevalier has not been a regular starter since January, the injury further complicates squad depth at a point in the season when rotation and training intensity are vital.

The timing leaves Luis Enrique facing an uneasy balancing act. PSG still have domestic business to handle as Ligue 1 leaders, beginning with Saturday’s home clash against Lorient, but every decision from now until next Wednesday will inevitably be made with Bayern Munich in mind.
