Kvaratskhelia is hoping his brilliance can fire PSG into a second straight Champions League final.

PSG will be hoping they can rely on Kvaratskhelia when they face Bayern Munich in a blockbuster UEFA Champions League semi-final. The Georgian winger has become one of the most decisive figures in Luis Enrique’s side, and with another final now within reach, PSG are once again turning to their fearless creator on the biggest stage.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s first leg in Paris, Kvaratskhelia made it clear that his joy for the game remains the foundation of everything he does. The 25-year-old said he still plays purely out of love for football and takes enormous pleasure every time he steps onto the pitch. That visible freedom has become a defining feature of his game, with his direct dribbling, sudden bursts inside, and unpredictable finishing making him one of Europe’s most feared wide attackers.

In an era where many leagues, particularly the English Premier League, have leaned heavily into structure, physicality and set-piece dominance, PSG’s European campaign has often felt like a reminder that elite football can still be played with flair.

Alongside Bayern Munich, they have produced some of the competition’s most entertaining moments, and Kvaratskhelia has often been at the center of them with his willingness to take defenders on and create something out of nothing.

Since arriving from Napoli in January of last year, the Georgian international has transformed into one of PSG’s most important players. He was instrumental in the club’s historic Champions League triumph over Inter Milan last season, helping the French side finally lift the trophy they had spent years chasing. That success removed a psychological burden from PSG, and this season they are now chasing the even rarer feat of reaching back-to-back European finals.

Statistically, Kvaratskhelia is enjoying the most productive campaign of his career. He has already scored 15 goals across Ligue 1 and the Champions League, surpassing the tally he posted during Napoli’s memorable Serie A title-winning season in 2023. Even more impressively, eight of those strikes have come in Europe, including standout goals against Atalanta, Chelsea and Liverpool in matches where PSG needed moments of individual brilliance to tilt the balance.

Yet it is not only his finishing that has elevated him. Kvaratskhelia admitted this week that while his technical level may have been similar in Naples, Luis Enrique has pushed him to become a much more complete footballer defensively.

The player affectionately nicknamed “Kvaradona” during his time in Italy also acknowledged that comparisons with Diego Maradona bring an unavoidable layer of pressure. With seven goals in his last eight appearances, he is arriving at the business end of the season in frighteningly sharp form.

Luis Enrique wisely rested him in PSG’s comfortable weekend league win, ensuring he returns fresh for Bayern’s visit to Paris. With Ousmane Dembele also set to start, PSG will unleash their two most dangerous attacking weapons in a tie they see as central to their season.
