Christian Eriksen says Tottenham are too good to be relegated, backing his former club to survive despite their struggles near the Premier League drop zone.

Christian Eriksen believes Tottenham Hotspur still have enough quality to avoid relegation, despite their difficult season in the Premier League.

The Danish playmaker, who was a key figure during Spurs’ most successful modern era, admitted it has been painful to watch his former club battle near the bottom of the table. Eriksen played a central role under Mauricio Pochettino between 2014 and 2019, a period that saw Tottenham reach the UEFA Champions League final and consistently challenge among England’s elite.

During his time in North London, Eriksen made over 300 appearances, scoring 69 goals and providing 88 assists. He was also named the club’s Player of the Year twice and earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2017–18 season.

Now playing in Germany with VfL Wolfsburg, Eriksen is facing his own relegation battle but continues to closely follow Tottenham’s fortunes from afar.

Speaking in a recent interview, he admitted his frustration at seeing Tottenham struggle, insisting that a club of their stature belongs in the Premier League. Eriksen expressed hope that the team can turn things around in the remaining fixtures, although he acknowledged that similar sentiments are often shared about teams that ultimately go down.

Tottenham currently sit just below safety with 31 points from 33 matches, trailing West Ham United by two points. With five games left, their fight for survival continues as they look to avoid an unthinkable drop.
