Club planning a full review at the end of the season to determine whether the coach will stay or go
Eddie Howe is set for talks with Newcastle United’s Saudi Arabian majority owners as concerns grow over the club’s recent form.
A delegation led by chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) is due to arrive for a scheduled board meeting next week. The visit comes after a run of eight defeats in 11 Premier League matches, leaving Newcastle 14th in the table ahead of their upcoming weekend trip to Arsenal.
Howe is expected to present his plans for recruitment and training during the meeting. Despite the poor run of results, there is no indication the manager will be dismissed before the end of the season, with the club planning a full review after the final five matches.
Senior figures including chief executive David Hopkinson and sporting director Ross Wilson will also attend. Discussions are expected to cover long-term infrastructure projects, including plans for a new training ground near Newcastle airport and whether to redevelop St James’ Park or build a new stadium.
The meeting will mark a rare visit from chairman Al-Rumayyan, who has not been seen at the club since August last year. Transfer strategy ahead of the summer is also likely to be addressed.
Bayern Munich are reported to be monitoring Anthony Gordon, with Newcastle valuing the winger at around £75m. The club may also consider offers for Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali as they look to remain compliant with financial regulations.
