Are Tottenham Actually Going To Be Relegated?

Hate to admit it, but the reality is that relegation is now looking like a real possibility for Tottenham Hotspur.

From winning the Europa League last season to sliding down into relegation waters, that is the story of Tottenham. Who would’ve believed that by this stage of the season, Tottenham would be flirting with relegation?

Although they performed badly last season, finishing 17th in the league, many fans hoped that by sacking Postecoglou and bringing in Thomas Frank, the club would chase bigger objectives.

Looking at Thomas Frank’s performances at Brentford and in the early months of his tenure, it looked like Tottenham were going to eventually end up in the top four or even give the title contenders a run for their money.  The peak of the early months of Frank’s tenure was beating Manchester City, but that feels like a distant memory now. Tottenham began to lose their grip under Thomas Frank midway through the season, and injury didn’t help at all.

Even though they found a way to always win in the Champions League, they weren’t able to translate those performances back to the Premier League. Things kept going from bad to worse. At one point, they were missing 14 first-team players.

Despite progressing to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, Tottenham were nothing to write home about in the league.

Tottenham are winless in the league since December and have changed coaches twice. Apart from the win against Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League RO16, which wasn’t enough for Spurs to qualify, they were winless under Igor Tudor, who spent about a month at the club.

Tottenham have now employed their third coach of the 2025/26 season in De Zerbi, and he has started poorly, losing his first game in charge

To add salt to injury, Kudus suffered a setback in recovery, meaning he will miss the rest of the season, and Romero, who suffered a collision with Kinsky in the loss to Sunderland, will also be out for the rest of the season.  With six games to go, Tottenham will be without their best defender, and they now sit 18th in the Premier League table, two points off 17th-placed West Ham.

Romero was seen shedding tears as he walked off the pitch, and the sentiment is that the whole team is downcast and without the belief that they will survive relegation this season.

Do I think they will be relegated from the Premier League? I hope they don’t, but if you look at it critically, they need to just get a couple of wins out of their last six games to stay up. This would mean they need to be mentally strong and then show that strength and fight on the pitch and honestly, it doesn’t seem like it.

So yes, it does seem a very huge possibility that Tottenham go down to the Championship this season.
