Rasmus Hojlund addresses criticism of his time at Manchester United, saying the media painted a distorted picture of his experience.
Rasmus Hojlund has opened up about his time at Manchester United, stating that the media created an unfair narrative about his experience at the club.
The Napoli striker claims he was happy playing for Manchester United, despite struggling for consistent playing time and form in his final season.
Hojlund moved to Napoli for the 2025/26 season and has thrived under Antonio Conte, scoring 13 goals across all competitions. He credits the Italian Super Cup win as a highlight of his move, calling it a great decision.
The 22-year-old forward believes the media, especially in Denmark, exaggerated the difficulties he faced at Manchester United. “I know that, especially in Denmark, the media created an image that everything was all just s… and terrible, and that I played terrible football, but that’s not how I look at it,” Hojlund said.
Hojlund emphasizes the importance of staying level-headed amidst media scrutiny. “The media has so much to say in this football world, and it’s hard not to be influenced. But there’s a lot more to it, and that’s why I always stick to the importance of never flying too high and, conversely, never diving too low.”
His impressive form has earned him a spot in Denmark’s World Cup qualifying playoffs next weekend.
Hojlund’s comments come as Manchester United is reportedly considering selling him permanently, with Napoli likely to activate the €44m buy clause in his contract.
The Danish striker’s rise to prominence under Conte has sparked interest in his future, with many wondering if he’ll continue to shine in Italy or explore other opportunities.
