League leaders Al-Nassr will be without Portuguese striker with ten games to go

The hamstring injury to Cristiano Ronaldo was worse than initially thought and the Portuguese international has travelled to Spain for further treatment.

Ronaldo was forced off during last weekend’s 3-1 win against Al Fayha. Tests later showed that the injury was serious, although Al-Nassr have not confirmed how long the 41-year-old will be out.

Head coach Jorge Jesus said Ronaldo would continue his recovery in Madrid under the supervision of a trusted specialist.

“In the last game, Cristiano left with a muscle injury,” Jesus told the media ahead of Al-Nassr’s home league clash with Neom SC on Saturday. “After the tests he underwent, it became clear that it is a more serious injury than we were expecting. He will need rest and recovery. Cristiano will travel to Spain for treatment, as will other players who were injured.

“He will need treatment from his personal physiotherapist. We hope he will return soon to help the team.”

Both Ronaldo and the club will be hoping he can recover in time to help Al-Nassr continue their push for the Saudi Pro League title.

Ronaldo’s 21 league goals this season has boosted the club’s hopes of winning their first league title since 2019. Al-Nassr are top of the table, two points clear of second-placed Al Ahli. If they succeed, it will be Ronaldo’s first major silverware since moving to Saudi Arabia in 2023.
