Barcelona have received a significant financial boost ahead of the summer transfer window after La Liga confirmed the club’s squad spending limit has risen by almost €100m.

The Catalan side’s cap now stands at €433m, a significant increase from the €351m limit set at the start of the season.

Real Madrid continue to operate with the largest spending ceiling in Spain at €761m, while Atletico Madrid rank third with a €336m limit. La Liga’s squad cost limits determine how much each club can allocate to wages for first-team players and coaching staff. They are recalculated after each transfer window.

Word of Barcelona’s improved position arrives ahead of the club’s presidential election, leaving it temporarily without a permanent president. Nonetheless, all leading candidates have publicly expressed confidence that new signings will be possible this summer.

Ex-president Joan Laporta, who is also seeking re-election, said the club’s return to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou is a major driver of revenue growth. The return to the Camp Nou was engineered by Laporta.

According to reports, Barcelona intend to reinforce multiple areas of their squad, with priority targets expected to include a striker, centre-back, left winger and additional full-back depth.
